Where to Begin?

Where to begin? That’s the question a lot of people will ask themselves when starting out with their budgets. The most important part of the process is to ensure that you are accounting for everything.

Now, that might sound obvious right? But it’s the things that can be done tomorrow that quite often get set aside. The perfect example is the dreaded credit card bill. The whole issue with credit cards is, that they are inherently designed for you to worry about LATER – and this can flow on to credit card bills as well.

Another example is keeping track of what you are spending your entertainment money on. With developments in technology and new products such as Afterpay making it so easy to spend money and if you aren’t disciplined it can cost you even more.

Often, once all of these costs have been accumulated, anxiety kicks in. This is the stage when you discover how well you have been doing, or just how much more you’ve been spending than you should have.

It is important to be honest with yourself and account for all existing costs in order to start planning for your financial future. You will know exactly how much you can start putting towards your savings goal, or where you need to start making some changes.

Regardless of how young or old you are, it is never too late to start your own personal budget and hit those personal goals you want to be working towards.
